Hello world!
NICOLA MATTINA, 6 JULY 2011During the last three years I’ve spent a considerable amount of time promoting entrepreneurship in Italy, mainly working with Telecom Italia as advisor of the Working Capital project. I’ve travelled all across Italy organizing demo days, analyzing projects, helping young and promising startuppers to refine their ideas.
Working Capital is just one of the many programs in this area, although it is the biggest and most visible one. This new wave of initiatives is inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs, expecially in the area of new media. In the last years in Italy there has been and explosion of events, meetups, barcamps, ignites, projects, websites, online groups dedicated to the startups’ world.
I did my first startup in 1999. I was 29 and the venture capital fund Kiwi II invested 750k euros in my idea. We worked for two years on Wap products: at that time Wap was considered a very promising business. Of course we failed, simply because we were building something that people did not want. But it was a great and memorable experience.
I did my second company in 2004. This time, it is a digital pr agency: the business is going well, we are working with big corporation and we have established a good reputation in Italy. We were pioneers in our country and contributed to promote the digital culture: we organized barcamps, imported ignites, took part and animated online and offline discussions about social media and their role in changing our society.
Now, it’s time to take all the knowledge and experience that we have built in the last years and start a new adventure. Startup Cloud will create products and services, with the aim to close the gap between the digital and the real world. Follow this blog to learn more

Buongiorno,
sono una giornalista del magazine LineaEdp. Per la rubrica dedicata alle interviste alla startup italiane mi piacerebbe intervistarla e raccontare la sua storia, che verrebbe pubblicata sul numero di settembre.
Saluti,
Arianna
